I’d really love to see a geek/tech freak/gadget lover/IT/homelab billionaire buying large number of things we mere mortals can’t afford, but only dream of, and then he blogs about them ;-)
Since I'm a "retro computing" guy, I look forward to buying one of these on eBay or at a Vintage Computing Fair for a few hundred bucks 5 years from now.
It shows the movement of birds across Europe, and how the birds move north/south according to seasonal changes. You can select different species and see an animation of bird populations. Site works a lot better on desktop.

yea, thanks :D , I used a tiny idea from geoguessing, that I banded the search on islands only in latitude between -30 to +30 deg. based on the sky and the tropical vibes in the img , and it worked !
Thanks for posting this, I remember seeing it somewhere some time ago but didn't bookamrk the site and couldn't remember the name. It has some very nice plots (and city comparison) for data freaks like myself :-)
Pictures do not do justice, and in my opinion the most photographed part (moon covering the sun) is not the most interesting one.
How the light changes, the corona when it's total darkness, and the light coming back again. All this is hundreds of times better than the occlusion (IMHO).
Watching the moon in front of the sun, with the corona around it, it's a memory that I plan to hold on for as long as I can.
Whenever I see news like this one I feel bad for us in Greece... we have so much sun yet we don't utilize it to the maximum we could for generating electricity and our KWh price is one of the most expensive in Europe. It's a pitty the government doesn't invest in solar or encourage households to do so :-(
Athens can’t build flat, stable, standardised side walks. The Italians own and operate their trains and when 50 students died in a very preventable head on collision no one has been held accountable in any real fashion.
Solar panels? They gotta fix the brain drain first. Anyone with the capability to bounce understandably does.
The only people with money are Israeli and Qatari real estate investors.
Solar panels are basically free at that point, they're pay themselves in <2 years in Greece. We're not talking about a 20k euros investment, even 1k would go a long way
For those not speaking German: Base price (incl. tax) for the bundle is 210€, plus 60€ shipping, minus 30€ sale, so 240€ for a complete set, including tax and delivery.
In Greece there is an unjustified support for natural gas. They deliberately stop renewables adoption (no more netmetering, no more batteries) because the Prime minister sleeps at the same bed with gas-people (like Mytilinaios). We have to burn gas from a few to many hours per day.
