Even that Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Card implementation still works better for parent’s game reselling use case (for a limited time) than outright removing the physical media option as Sony is doing.

From the link you posted:

Game-key cards are different from regular game cards, because they don’t contain the full game data. Instead, the game-key card is your "key" to downloading the full game to your system via the internet.

After it’s downloaded, you can play the game by inserting the game-key card into your system and starting it up like a standard physical game card. An internet connection is only required when you launch the game for the first time. After this, the game can be started even without an internet connection. However, like regular physical software, the game-key card must be inserted into the system in order to play the game. A Nintendo Account is not required to download the game data.

So lending and reselling game-key cards is still possible in the same way as physical media… at least until Nintendo’s servers stop serving the game, heh.

Are the download codes reusable then?

Game keys and download codes are two separate concepts. You can think of a game key as a transferable license. Download code is a one time license attachment to your account and requires a Nintendo account (I belive)

thanks for the context! Any of which was completely absent from the article or the comments when I posted originally.

Ah yes! It is human at the center. Now things are starting to make sense.

I don't see any actual context, just vacuous slop.

New Smart Folder with a cogwheel icon is in the File menu of Notes.app, while New Smart Folder with a folder+cogwheel icon is in the File menu of Finder.app.

Thanks! I don't use the notes app, cog is not the best icon for that but I suppose it's differentiated from the file system version, if I read them both the same I might be confused, but not sure why they selected cog!!!

HDMI in 1997–2003?

Sorry, VGA. And yes the G3 laptop was used to create my first software based solution since it could handle Unix / Linux coding.

By the way the person that down voted my comment highlights the rejection of reality that others lived through.

As an example, Opera was payware for the first ten years of its existence. I remember trying out a demo of it included on a CD decades ago!

You're absolutely right ! I had forgotten that.

A similar alternative is Howard Oakley’s Dintch/Fintch/cintch:

Have to strongly disagree on this point. Cog¹ is my music player of choice on macOS; not only does it have a clean GUI, but it supports almost every format² I’ve ever wanted to listen to audio in, including game music in formats like GBS (Game Boy Sound System) and 2SF (Nintendo DS Sound Format).

+1 for Cog, it's pretty awesome to be able to play N64 music files natively!

Vox is also pretty great for FLAC

https://vox.rocks/mac-music-player

Vox has a UI reminiscent of a Windows XP skin and gobs of macOS oddities. I feel like they're still trying to catch up to macOS UI changes from 5 years ago. Don't get me started on how inaccessible the entire interface is... They have tab bound not to focus changes but to switching the, yes, tab...

Doesn’t work as insanely quickly as voidtools’ Everything, but I use Thomas Tempelmann’s Find Any File as my Everything replacement on macOS:

I love how you remember the authors of the tools you use.
