I'm sad to say I don't feel like I have a good handle on what is going to happen in the near future. Between the ongoing daily "flood the zone" from the administration and how fast AI is moving I have no idea what happens even a few months out from here.
Do I think he will run? I don't know - he said he wants to, regardless of constitution, and I think he would love the vanity of it if he was sure to win. They've done a lot of work to be able to suppress votes, throw out mail in votes, and declare the election invalid, plus the legislature seems inexplicably spineless, so I don't know if he would run again or not. Anything but release the epstein files I guess?
Sure, ultraviolet photoreceptors are cool. You know what would be cooler? What if birds, and their dinosaur ancestors, had evolved infrared phototransmitters that can lase? The world would be a different place. Imagine how upon hearing the distinctive call of the Red-Eyed Vireo animals and people would scramble for cover lest they become its next charred meal. On the other hand, self-roasting chickens would be a godsend for the industry.
Thank goodness birds are not real or this might have been a thing.
I don't think it is difficult to accept that fundamentals should be taught.
We spend years learning basic arithmetic like the addition of integers. You could very well argue that there is no need for that either because everyone has a calculator app on their phone. This is how dark ages begin.
It drives me crazy how so many people (of all ages) can't do basic math in their head, at least approximately. You need it constantly and it's so much faster than picking up your phone, starting the app, and typing in the operation. I'm so glad my teachers back in the 80s and 90s told me "you won't always have a calculator in your pocket". They were wrong (I do have one) but they were right (it's not always convenient to rely on a calculator).
