everything ages and matures and goes through stages of experimentation and conservation. it would be much weirder if it didn't happen.

I've used Mechanical Turk in the early days but developed my own version for my vertical to manage freelancers.

The problem as I see it is verifying the work is not done by AI. If it was possible to verify somehow that the work is definitely not done by AI I think there would still be a market for this. But the data just cannot be trusted.

An increasingly big part of my job is to try and weed out workers who use AI and it's not an easy task at scale because generally workers gain trust with manual work and then there is degradation over time.

Outsourcing shops?

I suppose it depends on the value of the individual task. I can't imagine it's really realistic to lock down devices of mechanical Turk workers in such a way that ai use can be monitored.

In any case Locking down devices isn't really pragmatic at scale for relatively low value tasks, and also introduces complexity about employment law where I am.

These companies don't disclose revenue.

As someone who spent four years reading 'the' Classics at uni, I doubt it's very true

you comment wouldn't read quite so well if you swapped classics for posting cat tiktoks and hanging out with strangers you bump into in the street. But what makes that inferior?

No. You can play Candy Crush for all I care if that's what gets you more enjoyment. The classic were just what were on my mind when I wrote that comment.

not every profession has excess, not sure I can get on board with the idea that candy crush is of equal value to any job. money is just a measure of goods and services.

Yes, it is more productive. Becoming more familiar with the English language and skillfully written prose is good. The notion that modern prose is of lesser quality is widespread.

I think you missed my point. But you think the bounds of every field of research and technology has expanded, except language?

To learn how to read and write well, then you would do just as well, if not better, to read modern authors at the top of their fields. I wouldn't exclude thrillers. Reading Chaucer in old English, to stretch the point to breaking, is not going to give you any kind of edge. Maybe it will teach you a bit of French, but again, you are better off reading modern French literature for that.

I suspect you were not forced to read the classics as I was. Much of it is stuffed with overly flowery prose and immature ideas. It's mostly tradition that keeps them alive.

There is much personal satisfaction in literature, but I would place it much closer to leisure than work.

Cloud is so cheap and quick. I use local too but my api bill is like 3 quid a month. You would have to be very cheap or have compliance needs to tolerate the error gap

Yeah this was a big one for me, weed has lots of little knock on impact into other CV risk factors

this is true of most risk factors though, diet, excercise, relationships, work , all suffer under stress. it's the job of medical reseach to sift this stuff as best they can.
