cults always utilize this kind of fanservice for initiation

Sorry, none of what you just said makes any practical sense.

Could you elaborate?

I think I can. In 2026 Excel is unusable for me (I cannot see the active cell at a glance, I cannot trace dependent cells to “debug” my formulas, I cannot save directly to my local hard disk with a keystroke combination- I have to click around to avoid OneDrive)

Outlook freezes all the time. And in the past year or so AI “helpers” became very intrusive and distracting.

Office 365 usually has an authentication snafu twice a year-those days are completely lost for me. But even in the days without outages Office 365 is glitching and requires multiple attempts to login.

Which OS are you using? On macOS I don’t have any of the issues you reported. It’s snappy and fast, no freezes whatsoever and sane shortcuts.

Why are you logged into OneDrive if you don’t want to use it?

Actually I am not logged on OneDrive (AFAIK I did not create any OneDrive accounts) Excel insists that I should save my spreadsheets on OneDrive. Thus the infuriation.

Maybe he did not deliberately log into one drive, but was tricked with dark patterns and suggestive interface design. Which makes it even worse.

Or maybe he in fact is not logged into onedrive, and 365 simply sucks.

Why was this written with explicit Windows 95 support? Just 'cuz?

Probably the same reason it was written with explicit DOS support.

best not, lads

new locked down spyware TVs are so cheap, who would want to buy and move -your- locked down spyware TV?

Jailbroken LG TVs are the panacea of locked down spyware TVs.

Although like OP, if I ever lose the ability to run root, then that's the day I look for a new TV (lord have mercy).

I don’t think I will ever again connect a tv to the internet

I wonder how long it will be until TVs have some sort of cellular modem built in. Maybe some form of LPWAN - your TV may not be connected to the internet, but odds are there's one in range that is.

Damn... The faraday cage around my TV will worsen the picture quality.

I was playing around with LG TV homebrew a while back. Still have the same TV, and in the age of AI, I'm considering putting a coding agent to work on a dump of the filesystem to see what it'd take to run stock Linux on it.

There's an active Discord server (I know, I know...) for LG's jailbreak community and there are some incredibly talented folk on there who know the ins and outs of webOS to a crazy level. I'd recommend checking it out if you're interested in that sort of thing.

Not sure if you can post the full link but what's the /invitecode for the server? I'd actually be interested in joining since I've been interested in this

Happy to share it! The community is called OpenLGTV[1]. You'll find a link to their Discord on their website.

  > OpenLGTV is a collective, non-commercial project for legal reverse engineering and research of LG (Smart and non Smart) TVs firmware, which is partially Open Source.
  > The main goal of the project is to improve the functionality of the TVs by adding new features, fixing bugs and providing new software.

Presumably someone who is looking for a $50 TV.

"Enshittification isn't real", says notorious private equity venture capitalist firm a16z.

Sounds like an Onion headline.

Play Store and F-Droid are both official software repositories. I'm not confident the same can be said for Aptiode.

correctness of minor logic details is of general interest to no one, but of substantial benefit to everyone

In a world where Haiku is widely adopted, I figure its accessibility model would be much like that of Windows XP, in that it works by not restricting you from doing things, rather than specifically allowing certain things. XP and Haiku let the user do pretty much whatever, and for this reason, many disabled people still rely on systems like XP.

How about a hand shake?
