Comforting a toddler/child often requires bending the truth and is pretty essential imho.

Correct me if you disagree, but this is more because children have poor world models and don’t fully understand the complexity of certain concepts than that lying itself is necessary. The intent should be to tell them something that is as close to the truth as possible with the ideas they can comprehend, even if it would be considered a lie if you said the same thing to an adult

Or, you straight up lie and say "Yes, puppy now went to heaven and eats ice cream all day long" with absolutely zero regards for "coming as close to the truth as possible" as your 3-year old is endlessly crying. It's fiine.

Or you teach your kid that getting a pet also includes the experience of seeing it die. Then let him cry when the time comes.

You can do both, one doesn't exclude the other, they might be differently helpful in different situation/at different stages.

Both of those are actually built-in but very poorly documented (or basically undocumented). Disable keyboard for cleaning : https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/448938 and for the color picker MacOS has "Digital Color Meter.app" preinstalled when its window has the focus hover anywhere on screen and use cmd+shift+c to copy the value (by default it uses RGB but in the View menu you can change it to hexadecimal, the values are then copied as HTML #)

I use the color meter all the time! Didn't know about the view->"as hex" option though, that's very helpful.

That's a bit of an scorched earth extreme response imho.

Conversely, software that is not open source, but that has a really good API and SDK (like obsidian) is also very easy for your agent to do anything it wants with.

This gives the end user all the customization they need and gives a company like obsidian the capability to have a little bit of secret source in today’s day and age.

I've been in a few meetings like this. In all cases it was because they, as business leaders, were not able to run a profitable company.

Creating products with AI is like creating a tightly packed ball of wool. Then, to try to understand what happened you have to somehow pick a strand and pull it out to have a look. Very difficult with tightly packed wool.
