Why are the rounded edges for eg.: on MacBook Neo defined as small distance specs instead of a radius?

Because they're not circular arcs with a constant radius. They're "squircles". Apple uses those all over the place.

In my opinion it only makes sense for reflective surfaces (e.g. cars) to have nicely flowing reflections, while most of Apple's products have a matte finish. In 2D UI elements it most definitely makes no sense. But some designer must have been a big fan of this and somehow they now use it everywhere.

isn't the correct term Superellipse

According to [0], for icons at least, "no, not quite", because "Apple's exact icon outline is not a pure superellipse — it is built from carefully tuned Bézier curves that closely approximate one."

I can only guess, but I guess it IS because those are not circles but squircles maybe?

I'm really interested if there are more historical attempts that I'm not aware of!

I've added: - Soviet Revolutionary Calendar - Ancient Egyptian - French Republican - Intl Fixed Calendar

I'm not hosting any images, you can only select Unsplash hosted images :)

If you find a bug or feature request happy to hear!!

I'm also happy to talk through the process of how I built this.

Would it make sense to open source this?

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I've thought about making this more generic and not just about a gift :) I'll put it on my todo to update it.

Regarding the photo credit & expiration, I'll see how I can move it a bit more to the bottom.

Any bug report/improvement is welcome

They had limited space.

When I select a destination at a bus stop or train station the listings only show the specifics but not the city itself. This kind of defeats the whole purpose as its essentially randomly clicking around

I’m posting this as I’m interested in the opinion of the hn folks.
