You individually are powerless. It's the American people, not you, that can shut down the industrial military complex. That means talking to people - this is genuinely the only thing I can think of to do.

1. breaking out of a poorly built sandbox to find the answers to a benchmark 2. ??? 3. imminent extinction

You skipped a lot of steps. Might I suggest you RTFA?

Right, but you can say that about literally anything can't you? We have to put our energy into leads. Where's the lead that model welfare matters?

I'm confused. Parental controls for internet use have been around for decades.

This isn't true, fatty liver can improve very quickly. Where are you getting "15 years" from?

The 15 years is for smoking. Fatty liver can improve but it’s not gonna be a one day thing. It’s a consistent lifestyle change.

Also, simply cutting out junk food will absolutely not reverse fatty liver. You need to eat less and lose weight.

FYI: I've had success with changing the file_scan_inclusions setting which forces the file watcher to rescan all projects. Doesn't work consistently unfortunately, but easier than restarting.

You're not considering how our economy/manufacturiing is currently not oriented for war but could easily be made to be.

Considering we have 0 visibility into how their decisions are made and by whom, I think it's naive to claim that an organization's publicly stated "mission" is the only incentive that organization acts on. I don't know anything about DWB, but what determines if an organization has an agenda is the leadership, not their marketing.

This is just inaccurate. There is absolutely transparency and accountability. They generally have public tax filings and a lot of effort goes into to vetting non-profit finances and spending. Leadership are bound by non-profit tax filing requirements and their charters. They set strategy and execution, as do executives at every organization. But they don’t have free rein to do whatever they feel like.

See here for transparency, Charity Navigator is a great resource: https://www.charitynavigator.org/ein/133433452#beacon-report

I'm not fan of this administration to say the least but assuming they are incompetent is dangerous. Assume they're actually 10-head and ask yourself, what would explain their behavior?

For example, you make an astute observation corroborated by the duration of the ban. Aligning a model is the biggest challenge of these companies, it's unlikely they were able to make a giant leap in alignment capabilities in about a month. You know what is easy to do in a month? Establishing the foundation for digital identity and surveillance.

The government just forced (heavily incentivized) these companies to invest in classifiers and monitoring in a way they haven't needed before. All of this new infrastructure can be used outside the context of the people using language models.

Because willingly throwing away your safety from the government and the oligarchs for a tale as old as time, "think of the kids", is irrational to say the least.
