Ad executives in early 2010s took note of the public response to whistleblowing of the NSA PRISM program and Edward Snowden leaks.

10+ years later, this is their response. They have learned a large majority of people just don't give a shit. We are sheep. A majority of people just want "cheap" shit, no matter the cost.

This world is cooked man. Need an asteroid to wipe this planet clean, bro.

yea - just publish it

Why can’t these wealthy donors funding the "match" just pay a lump sum? Why make IA and other non profits jump through hoops to get the full amount?

(They do. The "matching" is just a fundraising gimmick; essentially a lie.)

People wouldn't care if (or could) AI replaced them if we had decent public support. But the billionaires and their lobbyists, politicians, and propaganda have convinced us that "government bad, private good". All of this so they could pay less taxes, buy super yachts, "feel superior", and other wasteful rich asshole shit.

> Govt bad private good

Except Private gets a lot of govt handouts... But somehow socialism for general public is wrong. Socialism for billionaires and corps is capitalist!

do people actually fall for this blatant marketing/puffery trash?

Living to 100 is overrated anyways.

As if this planet will even be worth living on if climate change continues to go unchecked. Or if humanity will even exist after the inevitable mass extinction event

always some excuse to keep eating meat

None needed.

Dahmer said the same thing about cannibalism.

Stay mad.

Don't stay ignorant.

Anger is a reasonable response to abuse and exploitation of sentient beings.

Always some excuse to look down on other people.

Do you look down on murderers and rapists? Or if you think that analogy is too strong, what about people who beat their children, which was considered normal and expected 60 years ago.

I won't bore you with a litany of habits that I disapprove of, because I am not stupid enough to believe that you care about what some random on the Internet riding a high horse thinks of you.

Murder isn't a habit unless you are a psychopath.

For how many years did you consume the mangled corpses of sentient beings before you went vegan? How can you live with yourself knowing what you have done?

Now apply to other people whatever mental gymnastics it took you to forgive yourself, and leave us be. kthxbye

I have a very hard time living with myself. I feel like a murderer that got out of prison and is still grappling with his past crimes.

There is no forgiveness, I feel fully guilty.

You project your mental gymnastics. Make assumptions based on your own cognitive dissonance. It's obvious which view is the simple and consistent one.

i ain't reading all that

i'm happy for u tho

or sorry that happened

>> short comment

> I ain't reading all that

You reveal your crude thought process and intellectual laziness which explains everything about this thread.

Do you ever wonder why people's eyes glaze over when you talk to them IRL?

This isn't a dinner party, it's an on-topic thread on a nerd forum.

always some excuse to avoid putting the blame on the corporations, unchecked O&G

Corporations don't exist without customers. Both sides are at fault. Individual effort matters. The thousands of animals you didn't eat throughout your lifetime would thank you.

It’s not "hackers". It’s an inside job, and a rug pull.

how is it a rug pull? if it's an inside job, doesn't that just make it theft?

What's the difference to you between a rug pull and theft?

In a rug pull, the thing you own (usually some kind of digital asset) goes down in value, leaving you with less money than you started with, whereas theft leaves you no longer possessing the asset itself.

A few extra steps. Usually, the rug pull doesn't involve directly taking something that belongs to other people, but instead, selling your own thing in a dishonest way.

A rug pull means you hype and then sell on the open market without.

A rug pull involves convincing someone to buy something first.

Theft doesn’t have to involve any convincing.

This is a pretty basic distinction. Perhaps you were thinking of “fraud”?

Rug pull is a trap, which can include theft. (You pull the rug and the victim in the cartoon would fall into the spikes hole).

That's always a possibility, and I'm sure it has happened a lot. I would suspect with the size of liquid it's more likely it was an exploit, but either way I don't think we'll ever know!

Usually we do find out, and in a majority of cases we find out it is a scam by the operators.

Yeah it was.

I mean of course it was. Everything in this whole ludicrous space is a scam of one kind or another. It's amazing to me that this is still even a point of discussion. It's obviously a rug pull.

Yes, fork after fork scam to control narrative.

The "terrorist" definition is just anybody that doesn’t agree with this administration at this point.

They will fabricate anything to justify their thinly veiled intentions.

This isn't new, it changed after 9/11. The US government expanded the definition of terrorism to pretty much mean anything they want.

This comment is proof that "oracle engineering" needs a new name

it is completely un-googlable

We monitor ourselves vibe.
