There may be no company I trust less to be open and honest about this than Uber. The arms race between companies will likely keep the most important lessons from this event proprietary. I'm very much not looking forward to hearing execs answer for this as I'm sure it will have the same amount of humanity as the rest of their comms.
This is my thought as well. Compared with Waymo, Cruise/GM, Tesla, Lyft, and the many other start-ups in this space, I think Uber is the least ethically scrupulous. I also doubt their self driving tech is as advanced as many of the other players, and I wonder if those other companies would have been able to handle this situation.
