I wonder if the code would be a bit cleaner if they dropped IE9 and year-old Firefox / Chrome / Safari support too. That would allow them to use new stuff like XMLHttpRequest 2, ECMAScript 5 Strict Mode, Typed Arrays, requestAnimationFrame and CSS transitions / animations.
